Classified as a historical monument, the town hall has a very beautiful façade, typical of the Gothic architecture of northern France. Of the town hall of the 17th century there remains nothing or almost nothing: only the facade has resisted the bombings and fires of the Second World War. The allegorical statues were designed by Henri Lemaire. At the top is reconstituted the famous pediment of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Valenciennes defending its ramparts (the original having fallen during the Second World War).

Ce fut un plaisir de faire mes démarches avec Pascale.
Aucune politesse, ni bonjour ni sourire. Une jeune femme à lunettes et sa collègue aux cheveux courts devraient sérieusement revoir leur professionnalisme. Leur attitude est hautaine, froide et irrespectueuse. Franchement, ces personnes n’ont rien à faire à un poste d’accueil du public. Il serait peut-être temps de penser à les remplacer par des agents compétents et bienveillants.
