Basilica of Our Lady of the Holy Cordon commemorating the miracle by following the path of the Holy Cordon in a procession.
In 1008, the Valenciennes are decimated by the plague. Nearly 7,000 people died in a few days and the protection of the Blessed Virgin was implored. She appears before 15,000 witnesses and illuminates the sky with her presence, followed by a procession of angels laying a scarlet cord around the city like a protective belt. Instantly, the epidemic ceases. Since then, in September, a procession commemorates the miracle by following the route of the Saint-Cordon.
