This site, located some thirty kilometers from the city of Lille, is a magnificent place for walking and discovery.

The ornithological site of Les Cinq Tailles is located only about thirty kilometres from the Lille conurbation, in the communes of Thumeries and Neuville. Situated near the sources of the Marque between the Pévèle and Melantois plateaux, it is also linked to the Phalempin forest massif and is set in the heart of large agricultural plains. Which makes it more than impressive in a green space! Formerly the industrial site of the sugar giant Béghin-Say, this exceptional land of 70 ha of forests and 35 ha of ponds was bought by the Northern Department in 2001. Since the work was completed in 2005, Les Cinq Tailles is now an ornithological site open all year round, and a magnificent place for walking and discovery. Four kilometres of trails (three of which are accessible to people with reduced mobility) and four observatories will allow you to observe dozens of species of birds that have come to find refuge, as well as the flora of the region. A real marvel for discovering nature!

The ornithological park of the 5 sizes is
proof that nature can regain its rights, on a site once
exploited by man. Moorhens, herons, egrets, cormorants,
black-headed gulls splash in ponds,
ponds which by the past, were anything else only swimming pools
