THE STEENMEULEN
A site rich in landscapes, culture and history, hosting visits to discover the objects and daily life of yesteryear.
Located in the heart of the Flanders mountains, the Steenmeulen site is at the center of a region rich in landscapes but also in culture and history. Built in 1864 and classified as a historical monument, the stone mill of Dutch type was used for the production of oil and flour. The visit is an opportunity to see the miller, Joseph Markey, at work. At the foot of the mill is the Maison du Meunier, Joseph's parents' house. Here you will learn about the history of the place and discover hundreds of objects from daily life and the trades of the past.
