LE CANAL DE LA SAMBRE

The canal from the Sambre to the Oise, built from 1837, is a 67 kilometers long canal which links La Fére to Landrecies. Although it is no longer used for economic purposes, it has been given a second life thanks to river tourism and the beautiful possibilities of walking along its banks. In Ors, it is still possible to contemplate the lock and the canal-bridge, whose history is quite eventful, with notably two destructions during the two world wars. A nice industrial discovery during a trip in the North!
