Museum housing 590 works, including Giacometti's beautiful Grande femme III.

This museum has the distinction of having been created by the famous Fauvist painter himself. During his lifetime, he donated eighty works that today make up its permanent collection. A must-see for art lovers... The vast residence in the heart of Cateau-Cambrésis is also well worth a visit! The museum reopened in November 2024 after extensive renovation and expansion work. Modernized and enriched, it's sure to dazzle you!

Musée très moderne, bien agencé. J’ai adoré les explications sur les différentes techniques d’art. Très peu de monde, on est seul avec les œuvres. De la peinture, à la sculpture au collage etc

Nous avons voulu retourner au musée Matisse pour trouver des posters. Il y en avait beaucoup à la librairie du musée avant la rénovation. Il n’y a presque plus rien aujourd’hui car il faut aller à la Galerie Matisse de l’autre côté de la rue qui est très peu ouverte par rapport aux heures d’ouverture du musée. Et ce lundi c’était fermé. L’agente d’accueil du musée a été très peu aimable. Il a fallu lui soutirer des renseignements et on a vraiment eu l’impression de la déranger…
