TERRIL DE GERMIGNIES-SUD
Terril n°143, known as Germignies-Sud, was created as a result of activity at the Barrois pit in Pecquencourt. Nature has reclaimed its rights here, but a few accessible paths allow you to relax in the shade of the trees. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the reptiles and amphibians that call the area home! The slag heap forms a plateau at an altitude of 25 metres, where the variety of ecosystems is impressive: lagoons, rocky slopes, bodies of water... The good news is that it could become more widely accessible to the public in the years to come.
