CITÉ DE LA MALMAISON
Workers' garden city with 135 dwellings, recognized by Unesco as an example of urbanization, a must-see site
Like its sister, the Cité de la Balance, the Cité-jardin de la Malmaison was built in two stages: the first houses, built in 1925, were supplemented by new dwellings in the late 1940s. Particularly noteworthy here are the small islands planted with cottages and rectangular houses. We also admire the attractive friezes under the roofs, designed with white bricks. This 135-home workers' garden city has been recognized by Unesco as an outstanding example of this type of urbanization.
