The museum, rich in memories, has enriched its collections with numerous objects and tools used in woodworking and shipbuilding. Thanks to the models of boats and old objects, one can admire the incredible know-how of the maritime carpenters, creators of these humble fishing boats which could nevertheless brave the cold and the storms. But the Musée de la Mer is above all the witness of an inseparable history of Grand-Fort-Philippe: that of the Icelandic cod fishing campaigns and the small coastal trades.
