Petit Futé's opinion on MARITIME MUSEUM

Vintage plate 2020

With the closure of the nearby shipyards, the museum has enriched its collections with numerous objects and tools used in woodworking and shipbuilding. Thanks to the models and reproductions, one can admire the incredible know-how of the maritime carpenters, creators of these humble fishing boats that could nevertheless brave the cold and the storms. But the Musée de la Mer is above all the witness of an indissociable tradition of Grand-Fort-Philippe... that of fishing "in" Iceland, or more exactly of cod fishing.
