Confiserie Despinoy is the traditional confectioner of the famous bêtises de Cambrai in Fontaine-Notre-Dame.

As a reminder, these candies are said to have originated from a mistake made by an apprentice confectioner in the 19th century. The wrong amount of sugar and mint, the inadvertent introduction of air into the dough... the bêtises were born. Despinoy produces 140 tonnes of bêtises a year, with mint and fruit. Despinoy also makes bêtise syrup and a digestive, crème de bêtise. You'll be greeted by a candy before setting off on a tour of the production process.
