Museum entirely dedicated to the Resistance, revealing events through reconstructed scenes, objects, documents...
The museum is housed in the remains of Fort Lobau, built in 1878 following the Franco-Prussian war. It was here that 68 resistance fighters were shot during the Second World War. These executions were not discovered until after the German troops had occupied the fort and blown it up on September1, 1944. Today, only a third of the original fort remains, including the sacred courtyard where the executions took place.

The guide we had was outstanding—deeply knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. She captivated the students I was accompanying, and even I found myself completely absorbed by everything she shared. There’s a lot in this museum: a rich, well-curated collection and a layout that makes it easy to follow the narrative whether you’re visiting solo or as part of a guided tour.
It may be a little outside the city center, but don’t let that stop you. It’s easily accessible—there’s a direct bus from Gare Lille-Flandres that drops you right in front of the museum. Honestly, it’s one of the most meaningful places you can visit in Lille away from the usual tourists crowds, and I highly recommend making the time for it.
Auto guide super qui permet de faire la visite comme on le souhaite.
