SAINT BENOIT'S CHAPEL
Chapel with 2 artistic currents of the XVIIth, classicism and baroque, this historical monument shelters 7 paintings of the Toulouse school
This building bears witness to the two great artistic styles of the 17th century: Baroque and Classicism. It was part of the Benedictine convent founded in 1645. The nuns were expelled in 1792, and the chapel became a revolutionary prison. In 1806, the sub-prefecture took up residence within the convent walls, while the chapel was transformed into a military theater. Its religious vocation was not restored until 1839. Listed as a Historic Monument in 2005, it houses seven 18th-century Toulouse paintings.
