LA FONTAINE BOULBONNE
Fountain adorned by a group of two female statues depicting Toulouse seated on a bridge arch, a place not to be missed
The group of two female statues representing Toulouse seated on the arch of a bridge over the Garonne was sculpted in the early 20th century by Jacques Labatut. Originally intended for the Place du Capitole, it was eventually installed in the Saint-Georges district to adorn a fountain created by architect Bernard Calley in 1984. The three cast-iron lion heads, from which the water flows, were created by Madeleine Tézenas du Montcel, a leading sculptor who trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and then in Rome, and who lives in the Pink City.
