Built on a limestone plateau, this medieval building reveals an amazing architecture. The panorama is breathtaking.

In an exceptional setting, the fortified castle of Gavaudun (11th-13th century) dominates the village with its massive keep several stories high. Nicknamed "the lock of the valley", its position on a rocky spur, reinforced by the natural defensive quality of the site, made it a high place of strategic defense. Today, it is the tourists who go to the assault of this monumental building. Entrance by a vertical well, narrow passages, steep stairs... What an adventure you will live there! In summer, many animations are proposed.

La route pour arriver au château et la vue du bas sont très belles. Après une montée un peu sportive un beau panorama se découvre. des remparts. La terrasse ombragée du café restaurant au pied du château est sympathique et rafraîchissante.

sensitive souls abstain! Especially for those who have vertigo! Between narrow staircases, steep steps and rises and descents steep, you will need to the heart and the well hanging shoes (not use for the first time the flip-flops!). A lack of signs security is disappointing, as much as for the rooms of the castle (old signs). However that remains a very beautiful building, an interesting visit with a very beautiful panorama, if you are its fear of emptiness on the ground floor!
