Perched on its rocky spur, the 12th century castle of Valon sits proudly on the Truyère gorges. Mentioned for the first time in 1150, this medieval fortress was occupied during the Hundred Years' War by the "routiers" who plundered the region. After the Revolution, the castle was no longer inhabited. An unshakeable witness to these distant times, the keep houses three superimposed rooms: you can go from one to the other by taking an amazingly narrow staircase. At the top, the terrace offers a panoramic view of the surroundings.
