Located on the borders of three regions, Carladez, Ruthene and Auvergne, this village has known various administrations, sometimes falling under the jurisdiction of the Counts of Rodez, sometimes under that of the Viscount of Carlat or the Abbot of La Chaise-Dieu. This position has enabled it to live on its crafts and trade. Although the village once had a priory, the current church is quite recent since it was built in 1932. It was built at the request of Cardinal Jean Verdier, a native of the village who became Archbishop of Paris. The crypt of the small church contains a "souvenir exhibition" dedicated to this man of the cloth.
