Museum with a beautiful collection of mine lamps as well as many flags and corporate banners
Redesigned in 2000, this museum embodies a fresco: that of the industrial history of the basin and of those known as the gueules noires. Installed on the remains of the historic mine, this space brings together testimonies, photographs and equipment that reflect the working conditions of the miners. Reconstructions and a scenic effect even allow visitors to relive the "coups de grisou", the gas explosions that plunged many families in the Basin into mourning.

Owner's Message
The " Lucien Mazars " Mine Museum, a branch of the Rouergue Museum, has been installed since 1979 in the heart of the former " black country " of Aubin Decazeville.
Through a rich collection of more than 550 documents, photos, archives and tools of the period, you will discover the life and working conditions of the miners from 1830 to 1960. In a mine gallery created by former miners, you will plunge into the heart of the underground life of the "black faces".
At the end of the gallery, you will witness a striking "firedamp" simulated by scenic effect.
The visit will end with the projection of films dedicated to the memory of the miners.
