Authentic Ecomuseum to discover the furnished houses of the former inhabitants in Sabres

Experience a day out of time! Board a century-old train for a unique experience at the Ecomusée de Marquèze. This is an authentic 19th-century Landes hamlet. As the day unfolds, you'll discover the furnished houses, some of which were once inhabited by local people, attend demonstrations of local know-how and activities, and soak up the atmosphere of l'Estanquet as you share a convivial moment over salads made from vegetables grown in the Ecomusée's greenhouses and local produce. Let yourself be carried away by the charms of this unique site, created in 1969 and awarded the Musée de France label, in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park. Treasure hunts and workshops are on the program for younger visitors, to help them better understand daily life in the 19th century. Allow at least half a day to explore the entire ecomuseum. The ticket includes the return train journey, guided and/or self-guided tours (1h) of the Marquèze district, access to the Pavilion and exhibitions, as well as participation in local activities and games. A temporary exhibition dedicated to the pictorial works of Bernard Manciet will complete your visit to the Pavillon (located opposite the Sabres train station). And there's always plenty to see and do: old-fashioned cooking, a presentation of the gardens, the arrival of the shepherd on stilts and his flock, the history of gemmage, a tour of the mill, a meeting with the spinner, etc. All the information you need is online.

After climbing in the 1909 train all in wood for 4km, place to discover a magnificent site on several acres. Here are immersed a century behind and see how big Landes ones lived. The buildings, animals, the mill, the bread oven everything contributes to this immersion. Staff in period costume is very nice. A beautiful discovery, expect at least half day eating on site.

I part in the early week with my 3 young and it is brilliant!!!!
Super landscape, very beautiful visit that enabled us to have a beautiful view of the landes and life fashion of these inhabitants at the time (the houses, clothing worn, tools...). Great moment in the sheepfold where children gave pleasure with animals from the farm where they spent all afternoon with the sheep.
The staff is very friendly. A large thank you with the shepherd and the saleswoman of the shop who were very available.
If you come to the region, go!!!!! you will not regret it!!!!
