The passage between the two «city enclosures» and «castle enclosures» was done by the Bocquet gate. This imposing entry, located at the beginning of the current rue de Strasbourg, was composed of a double drawbridge, hence its name commonly used today as a "street between two bridges". Following the demolition of the door, the city hall was erected between 1747 and 1748. Built on the old moat, the building is built on-metre tall foundations. The openings of the facade are decorated with mascarons.
