NEPTUNE AND MINERVA FOUNTAINS
There are no fewer than five fountains and washing machines in the small village of Lacroix-sur-Meuse. Facing the town hall, the great fountain and its magnificent façade present us with the god and goddess of the sea Neptune and his wife Amphitrite. In Latin, an inscription tells us «There is a covered fountain which provides a wave that emerges from the very bowels of the ground». This is the work of the architect Oudet in 1838. In the same street, it is in Minerve, the Roman goddess of agriculture and the arts, that is dedicated to the second fountain, guardian of the fertility of the village fields. The fountain of the virgin, third of this street, was offered to the ladies of the village. Finally, the fountain of the source awaits you high street while a 1860 wash is visible rue street. It was fed by a source under the church.
