Discover the heritage of the former Armagnac territory through this ecomuseum located in the Château Garreau.
Between the Landes and the Gers, in the heart of Bas Armagnac, the 82-hectare Château Garreau is home to
The Ecomusée de l'Armagnac, an association under the French law of 1901, recognized as being of general interest, working to promote the Armagnac terroir, discover its heritage and promote know-how through its various museums and exhibitions.
In a 17th-century barn, you can discover the Musée du Vigneron, the life of the winegrower, not forgetting his tools. There's also the stills museum, with its new slide show. The Château Garreau distillery operates every year in November and December. A second room has been created to showcase the 11 different stills.
The estate's Armagnac is aged in a unique century-old underground cellar, which you can visit by choosing the prince's tour followed by a tasting.
The auditorium is a room that hosts temporary exhibitions where you can take part in the aroma game. You can also take part in festive events organized throughout the year: meals at the still, gourmet markets, picnics...
In the boutique, get acquainted with the armagnacs created from Baco Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche grapes, distilled before blending, then aged in oak barrels. The website is also a mine of tasty recipes for cooking and cocktails. You can also order different ranges via the online boutique.
In 2020, Château Garreau launched its Armagnac-themed escape game, designed by the professionals at Fun Room Escape Game Mont-de-Marsan. Unique in the department, this game invites you to solve all the enigmas surrounding the distillation of its Armagnac. With family or friends, you have one hour to find the lost piece of the still that will enable Château Garreau to start distilling its Armagnac. Don't worry, novices: the game requires no special knowledge to solve the riddles.
Château Garreau is also an unusual place to bring your local or regional teams together for a conference or seminar. The establishment offers two original rooms to welcome groups: the estate's distillery at the foot of the century-old stills, and the Gascogne auditorium with its flexible layout. It is equipped with a video projector, screen, sound system and wifi. The program includes tours and tastings, with the possibility of offering personalized services. Enjoy your visit to Château Garreau!
