75-meter trench located halfway between the Douaumont ossuary and the Argonne battlefields at Chattancourt.
Reconstructed close to where the Toulouse and Chattancourt trenches crossed in 1916, this site allows visitors to imagine themselves in the shoes of a Poilu. Each part of the trench has been accurately recreated using instruction manuals, period photos and soldiers' testimonies. There are 100 meters of trenches and shelters along the way. Visitors can project themselves into the shoes of a Poilu, thanks to the many explanations and objects on display.
