COLLÈGE GILLES DE TRÈVES
The building reopens its doors to visitors curious to discover its majestic inner courtyard lined with galleries
"The most beautiful town house in France" according to Montaigne, no less! This is how Montaigne described the Gilles de Trèves college when he visited Bar-le-Duc in 1580. An extraordinary Renaissance monument in the 16th-century Lorraine style, it was built by Gilles de Trèves and remained a college until its closure in 2002. Listed as a historical monument since 1988, it's a real gem. Today, the building hosts events such as the "Bar En'Voix" international a cappella singing festival (in June).
