English garden that was created in 1805, preserving many original trees in Bar-le-Duc
In 1803, Marshal Nicolas-Charles Oudinot, Duke of Reggio, built a neoclassical mansion in his native town. It was destroyed by fire in 1813. Napoleon I subsequently decided to restore it. Since 1869, this elegant residence has housed Bar-le-Duc's town hall. The English-style garden was laid out as early as 1805. It retains many of its original trees and has undergone no major alterations. Today, it houses the municipal administration and its various departments.
