Museum that allows you to immerse yourself in the brewing culture and collects artistic advertising pieces from various breweries
Opened in 1988, this museum immerses visitors in the brewing culture present in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port from 1786 to 1986 at the local brewery, now a listed historic monument. The tasting room, known as the Salle Moreau, is in the École de Nancy style, and this is where the tour begins. It takes its name from the founding family of the Vézelise brewery, who went on to own several breweries in Lorraine, including the one in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. Two stained glass windows by Gruber illustrate the brewing activity, and a painting by Zanellato depicts the Vézelise brewery at its peak. The collectors' room features artistic advertising pieces from various French breweries. Another room, that of the old vats and cooperage, shows the evolution of the equipment. The tour also includes a visit to the malt house, followed by the laboratory, the hop room, the brewing room, the baudelot room, the machinery room, and finally the old ice houses. A small demonstration brewery gives visitors a good understanding of the beer-making process, allowing them to feel the ingredients and smell the aroma. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy a small beer tasting, brewed for the museum. Enough to make you want to make your own! The museum organizes training courses for both experienced amateur brewers and those just starting out in the profession.
