GROTTE DE MASSABIELLE
A replica of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes grotto at the back of the Saint-Mansuy church, housing a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Nancy has a replica of the grotto of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. It is located behind the Saint-Mansuy church. For many years, this grotto was a place of pilgrimage for the people of Lorraine. The last major pilgrimage was in 1984. The grotto houses a statue of the Virgin Mary, donated by a parishioner and blessed by the bishop. Access to the altar beneath the grotto is forbidden, as the stone is crumbling. But you can still come and admire the site, follow the monolithic Way of the Cross and enjoy the calm, green surroundings.
