LES OSTENSIONS LIMOUSINES

It is in Limoges that this septennial event (every seven years) traditionally opens, coming from another time (since 994). If the ostensions have become an element of folklore, they are nevertheless very tinged with religiosity. The ceremony of the "recognition of the chiefs": the opening of the hunt for Saint-Martial in the cathedral by the bishop, the mayor of Limoges and the first bayle of the ostension brotherhood inaugurates the festivities on Saturday. A procession then stretches on Sunday to the cathedral.
