Housed in the former Hôtel de la Sénatorerie, the museum has preserved its 19th century natural history cabinet and displays tapestries, objets d'art and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The museum is also renowned for its treasure trove of Limousin silverware, Gallo-Roman statuary and a remarkable collection of Chinese ceramics. A painting room is dedicated to artists who found their inspiration in Creuse.
