SAINT-BARTHÉLÉMY ABBEY
Church of Limousin Romanesque style with the marks of the road to Santiago and a beautiful bell tower, placed on the road to Compostela.
This abbey church occupies an important place on the road to Compostela. The arrival of the relics of St. Bartholomew ensured the monastery's development. It was built in the 11th century by monk-masons, Compagnons stonemasons and initiated carpenters who, in addition to their remarkable technical skills, possessed an architectural philosophy, which explains the importance of symbolism and the golden ratio in this pilgrimage site. Discover its 44 sculpted capitals, 145 sculpted modillions, scallop shells, companion signs... A fascinating place.
