THE VIAM TRAIN STATION
Altitude 696,382 m! This is how accurate the position of Viam station was then. Inaugurated in 1883, the Paris-Orléans-Corrèze route came through here. The steel giants certainly carried passengers, but also military equipment intended for Masonry camp. At 2 km from the village, this station was the meeting point of the villagers, where they waited for the surprises that were going to bring them to the arrival of trains in their loading and unloading. The traffic was full in simplicity, where electricity arrived only in 1955 and water in 1960. The café of the station, a former relay relay, held by Angèle Nony, saw the passing of generations of travellers. Today, the station was sold to individuals and the café closed its doors. Nothing is lost, the associations «People of Viam», and «Vienna-Vézère-Steam» decided to take things in hand to revive and preserve the village, works appeared, café hosts exhibitions (paintings, pictures…) and themed events (stories and legends…).
