LA FONTAINE SAINT-MÉEN
A fountain renowned for its healing powers, one of the 200 good Limousin fountains in Treignac
The Saint-Méen fountain is one of 200 "good fountains" in the Limousin region, known as las bonas font in Occitan. Venerated by the Celts, it was renowned for its healing powers (skin and eye diseases). Although Christianized by Saint Méen in the mid-7th century, it does not bear a cross. It was an important place of pilgrimage, with many sick people coming to collect the "miraculous" water. Even today, its granite basin and peaceful setting make it a charming place to stop, where history and legends mingle with the murmur of the water.
