An elegant Renaissance-inspired castle, located in the heart of a two hundred year old wine estate

The Château de l'Esparrou opens the doors of its estate for the pleasure of young and old. In the heart of a two hundred year old wine estate, the elegant Renaissance-inspired castle, built in 1892 by the Danish architect Petersen, is revealed. The castle has always been part of a certain movement and has welcomed many artists (Maillol, Dufy, Breton, Cocteau...). Today this artistic vocation is perpetuated through exhibitions and conferences throughout the year. Playgrounds, quizzes, and pony rides will appeal to children.

Open all year. Low season: Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 7pm. High season: Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm; Sunday from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm. Labeled Sud de France Quality. Free for under 18-year-olds. Adult: €5 (pedestrian visit of 2 km with walkman MP3 in French, English and German). Tasting and sale of wine on the premises. Online sales by connecting you on www.chateau-esparrou.com/vin.php. Guided tour. Catering facilities (picnic baskets by reservation, around €30 for 2 adults and €13 by child). Picnic areas. Shaded parking.

I appreciated the reception, children's playground and picnic on the vineyard, they are quite nice. Unfortunately, the castle is not visited but walks in ponies and visits of natural Wednesday natural guide are really worth trying.
