La Métairie is a museum that pays tribute to Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), a local child and famous sculptor. Managed by the Dina Vierny Foundation, this museum houses 36 statues - bronze and terracotta - as well as lithographs and various objects illustrating the life of the artist. You will also be able to watch a moving film dedicated to her, shot in Banyuls a few months before her death... In the beautiful garden, the statue of the Mediterranean stands serenely over his grave.

Después de ver el museo me fui a andar por los caminos de alrededor y tuve una experiencia más que desagradable: en medio del campo decenas de perros encerrados en una caseta aullando, ladrando , desamparados. Algo desgarrador que no sé cómo se permite. No se si el ayuntamiento está al tanto de esta práctica. Fue algo que estropeó para siempre mi imagen de este pueblo.
