LE VERRE À SOI

Wine bar
4.2/5
26 reviews

The new place with rather innovative concept in the city centre of Montpellier... no worm in this forbidden fruit with thousand delicacies, but many glasses of wine to enjoy, which will fulfill your temptation, in large cosy club sofas and a chic decoration. A new generation of "wine bar", created for the first time in Grenoble and which gives rise to its little brother on the side of Montpellier. An atypical place that looks like an apartment where lounge, dining room and kitchen space have pride of place and as a centerpiece of the house, the tasting space in self-service! With a magnetic card credited beforehand, you serve yourself your glass of wine and the quantity you want. The discrete and friendly staff will be there to welcome you, help you in your choices if you wish and serve you some tapas dishes to sponge a little your thirst of epicurian champagne, beers and wine from here and elsewhere. You should try, without moderation!

MUSTANG CAFE

Bar and caf
4/5
25 reviews
Open - Close to 01h00

It is in the back of the Halles Castellane that the Mustang has taken up residence. Well established in the Écusson, it attracts a clientele of gourmands and soiffards from lunchtime to the night. They are seduced by Mustang's two terraces, its musical atmosphere, its food and drink menus, its entertainment... In short, its DNA! If its exterior is the main weapon of the place, it is quickly followed by the impressive menu of cocktails, beers and tapas at low prices. We also appreciate its interior decoration.

CAFÉ BUN

Coffee shop and tea room
4.6/5
5 reviews

Café Bun is one of the city's coffee temples. Run by a passionate roaster, the establishment has all the right cards in its hand. Indeed, after studying physics, Luc - the owner - took the time to train with Antoine Netien (Best Roaster of France 2011). Since he opened his café, he has been highlighting the craft and celebrating the richness of the flavours he offers. The coffees and teas are to be discovered and enjoyed on the spot or to take away, they are accompanied by tempting delicacies.

BARBEROUSSE

Rum shop
4.3/5
6 reviews

From the outside, one hesitates to enter as it doesn't look like much: a simple door, rather narrow and guarded by two strong doormen, opens onto the rue Boussairolles. But behind it, a plunging staircase takes you into the belly of an impressive pirate ship. In a wooden decor, the Barberousse unfolds its bar where you can consume the house specialities based on rum in the form of shooters and planters (apricot, litchi, chartreuse...). The establishment offers more than sixty tastes, in addition to a menu of old rums.

LE REBUFFY PUB

Pub
4.2/5
6 reviews

Here's a special address, well known to Montpellier locals. We don't come here for the decor, nor for the quality of the beers - which are nothing exceptional for a pub, even if the wooded setting and the music are pleasant - but for its legendary conviviality! On the large terrace off rue Foch, conversations flow as the hours go by, and contacts are easily made. Taciturns and snobs beware! You can also find company around the games the pub lends out. For those allergic to the atmosphere of Place Jean-Jaurès, the Rebuffy is the exact opposite. Elephants, the address's mascots, have invaded the pub. Special mention for the monstrous elephant-shaped teapots, which could be brought to you if you order a tea!

PAPA DOBLE

Cocktail bar
4.2/5
5 reviews

Elegant and intimate, Papa Doble is one of the city's top cocktail bars. Until recently, the establishment was included in the list of the 50 best bars in the world. In a very elaborate setting, both sober and design, inspired by the works of Ernest Hemingway, the bar's team offers very original creations. Unusual ingredients, little known alcohols and atypical syrups, the cocktails reveal unusual aromas. The vaulted aspect of the room and the boudoir decoration give a very intimate and even naughty atmosphere to this place.

LA RAFFINERIE

Bar and caf
4.5/5
2 reviews

William, already owner of the distillery rue de l'Aiguillerie, took over in May the former Mojomatic with his associate Vincent. Very close to the prefecture, its small terrace and its relaxed smart side are appreciated. The slogan of the house "Fine music and good spirit". Nothing to add, guest comes here to drink a draught beer as the cherry Belgian Krieg or one of the 17 cocktails of the menu to relax and listen to good sound electro swing, rock, and even hip hop. You can play billiards in the basement, or discover the rum cellar of uncle Will. All may be accompanied by a board "du bon vivant" with sausage, cheese, jam of fig and buttered bread or perhaps you will let yourself downright be tempted by "la planche du ministre" composed in addition of a bottle of wine.

Under the beautiful vaults of the 14th century, Audrey, specialising in french pastry, and Marion, specialising in cupcakes and American cakes, both of them pastry chefs, opened this pastry in the place of La Girafe restaurant, well-known by the inhabitants of Montpellier. Specialties of millefeuille, lemon tart, and especially the turned brioche, everything is homemade with quality ingredients. Beware of the head upstairs. At lunchtime, there are two daily specials including one gluten-free. Note the canistrelli, delicious Corsican biscuits with chocolate, orange, olive oil and white wine.

LE CIRCUS

Pub
3.8/5
6 reviews

This pub within walking distance of place Jean-Jaurès looks after the decor. A long zinc, small salons lounge cut off from the rest of the bar, leather sofas: Annie and her brothers wanted to give it a New York soul. Red billiard tables and decorative elements based on the circus theme complete the picture. The sound atmosphere is very pleasant, with a trendy playlist of current music while remaining original. The bar of 250 m², very lively from Thursday to Saturday evening, attracts a large number of Erasmus students and Montpellier partygoers. You will need to push your way through the crowd to reach the bar and don't expect to find a place on a sofa. On weekdays, the atmosphere is different, cosy, and the music is not too loud, which allows you to have discussions without screaming (quite pleasant because it is less and less common!) On the other hand, whether you are in group or alone, the service is always desperately slow. Possibility to book lounges.

CAFE JOSEPH

Bar and caf
4/5
3 reviews

Undoubtedly the trendiest café in Montpellier for more than 21 years! Non-aficionados will find this place a little too "showy". since Café Jo', as it is nicknamed by regulars, is primarily the meeting point of a trendy local youth who loves to show off and to be seen. But what type of Montpellier residents would dare to say they have never gone to Café Jo? At Café Joseph, you can enjoy the large terrace that extends over the half of Place Jean-Jaurès and an impressive concentration of young people permanently installed there! If you do not dance outside, a DJ is there to light up the evening regularly, and other events enliven up the bar throughout the year. As for catering it has incredibly been improved: the charcuterie boards to share or the Joseph hamburger is the specialty of the house. But we also like the breakfast in the quiet of the sunny place. The upperfloor of the café, with magnificent decoration, can be reserved for birthdays and other events. In a nutshell, if you look for the place that is a little mythical of the trendy Montpellier, go to Café Joseph, you will find your happiness. If you do not meet these criteria, you should avoid it, during the weekend, in any case.

ANALOG

Bar and caf
4/5
1 review

Analog is the bar of Karen and Kévin, native Irish and Montpellier by adoption, who had one day the insane idea to brew their common passions: beer, music and cinema. You can imagine a classic beer pub, but it's not at all. Pretenses are played here, in a more rock'n roll and vintage atmosphere, with modern and offbeat style, sleeves of old vinyls on walls and cult film posters. The mismatched recovery furniture, the armchairs in old movie spirit, the candles in corpses of bottles make this place a unique bar, authentic, intimate and cordial. An analogy of beer is drawn here, happy hour until the early morning, with more than fourty different beverages: Barbar, Chimay, XX bitter, Cuvée des Trolls, Delirium, Hommelbier and Belle En Goguette (draught), Gouden Carolus, Jever and Schneiderweisse for p'tites allemandes or Brooklyn Laber, straight from the States. Analog attracts crowd, young and old people, all in connection around the same desire, conviviality. Thus, you should come early to find a place here, because the terrace fills quickly and no way to go hunting and lose your place there!

INGLORIOUS BAR

Bar and caf
4/5
1 review

Salva and Steph, two boys with impeccable figure, but also with strong breadth and a kind of ZZ top look, welcome you at the Inglorious Bar with of course the rock as an argument. Do not think to annoy them! To start up the evening carefully, from 6 pm to 8 pm, happy hours in a friendly atmosphere: a good plan. From 9 pm, the purist rock regained their rights for a great pleasure of our ears: Led Zep, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Blues Rock, Rock Sudiste with no holds barred... and the good beers flow there in liters. The atmosphere is very nice, the customer too. One of the most popular places of the city! "Quiz" evenings are held regularly, and animated by the regulars of the bar. And as every Thursday, it is the Happy Night, the pint of blonde is at a very low price all evening, and the "Maison Close" group deals with a musical part (free concert) from 7:30pm...

MY BEERS

Beer bar
4/5
1 review

A stone's throw from the Jacques-Coeur pond, this specialized address offers several hundred hopped references for sale and tasting. My Beers has quickly become the favorite outing address for local residents, attracting both beer lovers and the curious looking for a terrace to relax on. If the latter is a little noisy during the day because of its proximity to the Avenue de la Mer, it finds its calm when night falls, only animated by the conversations and the friendly atmosphere created by the references of the house. These laters are so numerous and obscure that you should not hesitate to ask the bartenders for advice, they will be excellent guides. The same goes for the cellar, which still contains more than 400 references of beer bottles, barrels, boxes and beer drawers.

MOSQUITO LATINO

Cocktail bar
4/5
1 review

In 2017, the team behind the famous Empanadas Club restaurant opened an adjoining space to offer Montpellier residents a cocktail bar and club. At Mosquito Latino, we eat Latino, drink Latino and dance to the wildest rhythms. As for the cocktail menu, we are delighted to see rare, even unique proposals. They are presented on a menu of Latin America and each country has its own cocktail. They are generally made using products that are emblematic of the place. As an example: Colombia is composed of aguardiente and the Chile contains pisco. Then, all that remains to do is to impress your loved ones with some inspired dance steps.

THE EGG

Recently picked up by Sébastien, in Belgian pub in the St-Roch district, beer flows. Three tables on the terrace, a room with mezzanine behind the counter, the hétéroclite bottom wall consists of press clippings, beer and ticket capsules. Eight draught beers and twenty-four beers. A restoration, with all kind of tapas, egg to a euro, slate of the local cheeses and six euros and delicious deserts like their famous cheesecake. The map evolves over the seasons and according to their desires, which will be yours too! Pop-rock music to accompany everything, and the trick is played!
