Oppidum located on a hill 270 m above sea level, witness to the Gallic presence on the site in the century BC.
To the west of the village of Gaujac lies the Saint-Vincent oppidum, an elevated promontory on a hillside 270 meters above sea level. The site was discovered in 1974 by archaeologists Jean Charmasson and Dominique Cannaud. Excavations attest to a Gallo-Roman presence on the site since the late 6th century BC. At the crossroads of three transit routes, the fortified town became a strategic stronghold for trade between the Mediterranean and the North from 80 BC onwards. Numerous remains freely accessible.
