PONT DU GARD
Petit Futé's opinion on PONT DU GARD
Listed since 1985 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Pont du Gard is an exceptional site. The aqueduct, built around the year 50, is the most audacious work of the Roman Empire to date. It transported water from the springs of Uzès to Nîmes. Today, the majestic structure spans the Gardon and culminates at more than 48 m. The beaches invite you to swim in the summer and the footpaths offer a panoramic view of the garrigue. The museum offers a fun tour of the construction of the bridge. A must-see!
