Petit Futé's opinion on GROTTE DE LIMOUSIS

Vintage plate 2020

The Limousis Cave is the largest cave in the Pays Cathare. The one-hour guided tour takes you into the cave of prehistoric man, in the footsteps of the cave bear, but also into the living cave, dotted with pure water gours with fairy tints and with exceptional emerald green lakes. The treasure cave is not to be outdone with its aragonite chandelier, with millions of crystals, a sublime geological curiosity recognized worldwide. A play of sound and light will close this course of about one kilometre, accessible to all.

The classic and timeless cave
...

With its hundreds of multi-millennial mineral formations such as stalactites, columns, draperies and translucent fistulas.

The prehistoric cave...

Rich of its numerous vestiges of cave bears, tools, pottery and bones

neolithic period as well as traces of griffade left by the bear on the walls of the first halls.

The living cave
...

Sprinkled with gours filled with pure water with magical reflections that delight photographers. Its lakes

whose depths reveal an emerald green that makes you want to dive in.

The treasure cave
...

With its luster made up of millions of ARAGONITE crystals, an exceptional polymorph of the

calcium carbonate (calcite), which formed in the last room making up the uniqueness of this cave,

placing it among the world's geological curiosities.
