LA FONDATION MEQUIGNON
Read moreFounded by the priest of Elancourt, the orphanage was recognized as public utility by imperial decree on 7 April 1866. In 1860, Abbot Méquignon collected over 60 orphans. Given the enormity of the task, he obtained the assistance of three sisters from Saint Vincent-de-Paul. Five years later, 125 children joined the group already formed. He then built the orphanage. Since December 1967, the Méquignon Foundation has replaced the orphanage, which became a social children's house. Noted: the tombstone of Father Augustin Méquignon, the chapel of l'Assomption.
