Quarries exploited from the to the century to extract stone for the construction of various buildings, including the Pantheon.

Few people know it, but as you walk through the streets of Herblay-sur-Seine, Montigny-lès-Cormeilles or La Frette-sur-Seine, you may well come across quarries several dozen meters below the surface. Quarried from the twelfth to the early twentieth century to extract stone for the construction of a variety of buildings, including well-known landmarks such as the Pantheon! They form a veritable maze several kilometers long, but are no longer open to visitors.
