Ile d'Herblay-sur-Seine, a biodiversity reserve home to around a hundred plant species, as well as a number of mammals and birds.
This area is inaccessible and completely off-limits to visitors, yet when you walk along the quays of Herblay, take a look down towards the Seine: you'll see the kilometre-long Ile d'Herblay. The Val-d'Oise departmental council has just decided to turn it into a biodiversity reserve, which will be scientifically monitored. Home to around a hundred plant species, it will also be a resting place for many birds, and even a few mammals.
