The former royal abbey of Saint-Denis, founded in the 7th century, was successively rebuilt by different architects. Completed under Louis XV, it was transformed into a school for the girls of the Legion of Honor by Napoleon I. Today, it welcomes nearly 500 secondary school students, daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters of members of the Legion of Honor, military medallists or members of the National Order of Merit.
