It was named after the patron saint of Vaudoy, Saint-Médard, and dates from the 13th century, as does the wash-house. Its source is said to be near the Ferme des Prés. It seems to be an artesian well, since the water pours out like a geyser. For information, an artesian well is a natural phenomenon.
