Organised by the association Lormont Loisirs Animation Culture, in partnership with the town of Lormont, this event is an opportunity to celebrate the return of the shad (a migratory fish from the same family as the sardine or herring) which, every year in February, swims up rivers, particularly the Garonne and the Dordogne, to reproduce. It can be fished in spring, from March to June (except weekends). The programme of the Shad Festival includes music, theatre, street arts and other activities offered by several local associations, including a painting exhibition. All this in a good mood and in a friendly atmosphere.
