LES FOLIES BERGÈRE

If the Folies Bergère are, it's because the café concert built here in 1869 was to take a street name. As the nearby lanes all bore surnames, only this pretty, evocative word would do! "Paris je t'aime" is the title of the revue presented here. Dances, including the unmissable French cancan, comic attractions, mime, juggling, acrobatics... are all part of the programme at this two-hundred-and-eighty-seat venue, which opened in 1949. From the very first years, the shows featured talents such as Erté and Balenciaga. The trend was set, and La Nouvelle Eve has continued to offer its spectators sparkling shows. If you opt for the dinner-concert option, the food is excellent. In short, a must.
