The theatre is located in a historic site built in 1676, the Hotel de Charny. Baudelaire lived there and Cézanne set up a workshop. Michel Bouttier and Sissia Buggy opened the Espace Marais in a wing previously occupied by a chocolate factory. Special feature of the hall: spectators surround the stage, you can be seated in an armchair or on a bench on the side - lower rates. Throughout the year, the programme features a large number of classics by Molière, Beaumarchais, Marivaux, Voltaire, Feydeau or adaptations of literary texts by Camus, Zweig, Sartre or Genet. The theatre is also a place for training - courses and workshops for all ages and levels.

Les comédiens, qui à chaque fois jouent remarquablement bien et prennent un réel et indéniable plaisir à être ensemble, ne font qu'un avec le public et c'est un vrai régal. On ne peut être que séduit par cette approche vivante et interactive du théâtre. La mise en scène est intéressante et soignée. Les comédiens occupent très bien l'espace, rien à redire également sur l'interprétation, la diction et l'articulation. Dès les premières minutes et jusqu'à la fin, le rythme est si bien maitrisé qu'on ne voit pas le temps passer.
Nous y retournerons sans hésiter.
