FONTAINE DES INNOCENTS
A superb Renaissance building, the Fountain of the Innocents, located in Paris.
At the heart of the Halles district, the Fontaine des Innocents owes its name to the medieval cemetery of the Innocents that once occupied the site. Erected in 1549 by Pierre Lescot and Jean Goujon to celebrate the entry of King Henri II, it was moved before finding its present location in 1858. Listed as a Monument Historique and restored in 2024, it features mythological sculptures and superimposed basins, offering a living testimony to the history of Paris.
