LIBRAIRIE GALIGNANI
Lovers of beautiful books and discreet places with a stamp go to Galignani, one of the most beautiful bookstores in Paris. Facing the Jardin des Tuileries, next to Angelina and under the arcades of Rivoli, you could not dream of a better place. The entrance door, a perfume of the wax fleet, the walls cover itself on high rayonnages of more beautiful works than others in areas of typical Parisian preference: fashion history, decoration, fine arts, painting, cinema, gastronomy, royalty, jewellery, travel, dance, etc. Some editions are in English or French only, sometimes in limited print. There are rarities, confidential works, out of price or accessible, but always of good taste. The literature radius and history also have to be dizzy. From the last Goncourt to the more rare and carefully selected works, we have the delights of a choice. Galignani, the first bookstore to offer books in English on the continent (1801), offers a wide choice of works in Shakespeare's language, for children and adults, in a dedicated small room. British expatriates will be happy to choose a book of French cuisine in their mother tongue, while the nostalgic will opt for a book on English recipes. However, we regret the coldness of the staff who, despite good advice, are not expanding towards its new customers.
