The Canal Saint-Martin, which connects the basin of La Villette to the Seine, was built between 1805 and 1825. Its oldest sections are located at the level of the bridge of boulevard Morland, the Bastille Vaults and rue La Fayette. Several cruises are offered including that of "Vieux Paris", which combines navigation and sound and night light. It is an amazing journey: from the port of the arsenal, through the underground canals to emerge in the Paris of yesteryear, that of the film Hôtel du Nord, then Place Stalingrad, and towards La Villette. It's a condensed version of the most unforgettable places of the capital that you should absolutely visit. Finally, please note that booking is strongly recommended in the summer.

A great experience in Paris when visiting. We did the Canal Saint-Martin (Old Paris) ride and were thrilled pass under the streets, to see the sights, and to pass through (and up) multiple locks. Our guide was fantastic and was exceptionally bilingual (french and english). She'd start descriptions in french and switch seamlessly to recap in english, then resume french for the next discussion. She truly worked so hard and stunned us with her knowledge and ability to manage the bar, guide the tour, and dock the boat. Would 100% recommend to all visiting, and is a much more affordable experience than most!
