Inaugurated in 1989, during the Bicentenary of the Revolution, the Opéra Bastille was built on the site of a former restaurant and train station that operated from 1859 to 1969, responding to the desire to create a modern and popular opera house. The 160,000 square meter building is 80 meters high, 50 meters above ground and 30 meters underground, and does not go unnoticed. It houses a 2,700-seat auditorium, a 450-seat amphitheater and a 250-seat studio. All with exceptional acoustics.

Closed - Open to 12h00

Acrobats, clowns, numbers with cats, elephants, tigers, horses… The circus founded by the late Arlette Gruss ensures in the great tradition! A cousin of Alexis Gruss, who led a circus of the same name, it carried out numerous acrobatics to the rope and the trapeze, but became known through a dompteuse number of panthers. She decided to create her own circus in 1985. Despite the difficult beginnings in Ireland, Cirque de France became a reference from 1988 with the panthers of Arlette Gruss, the husband of Arlette Gruss. Five years later, the eponymous circus appears on the small screen for the delight of both small and large. However, everyone can take advantage of his passages in Paris to discover this magical and traditional circus. Today, and despite the disappearance in January 2006 of Arlette Gruss, the circus, taken up by his son Gilbert Mummolo, is always dreaming and has the means of his ambitions: 26 tours, 350 performances per year, 120 employed.

And for good reason, the space, which is quite vast, offers an eclectic program, and many of the artists are still unknown, but are expected to break through soon. Lescop, Yaël Naïm, Juliette Armanet have been here, and we can only invite you to take a regular look at the programming. THÉÂTRE TRAVERSIÈRE - COMPAGNIE L’ÉQUIPE

Theater
4/5
1 review

The company was created by the Railway Henri Dumay in the 1940 s. At the Valhubert theatre, located in Paris-Austerlitz station, it has set up many classic and contemporary pieces. What it continues to do, always linked to the world of rail via the comité d'etablissement SNCF de Paris Rive Gauche. The team moved from 2002 to 2008 in a former sports complex on the Rue du Chevaleret. As the latter was promised to destroy, acrobats returned their luggage to the Nap Theatre - 300 seats. We are not born under the sign of travel for nothing! In 2009, after a two-year renovation, Espace Flute reopened its doors. It retains its primary vocation with the presentation of quality performances.

SUPERSONIC

Cafconcert

This New York loft feel is one of Supersonic's hallmarks. The 200-seat venue, which opens entirely onto the outside thanks to its large bay windows, hosts concerts, DJ sets and tributes to bands such as Nirvana and Pink Floyd. The program is indie pop, psychedelic or rock, and drinks are available at fairly reasonable prices. Supersonic has succeeded in finding its specific place in an environment where there is no shortage of players: quite a feat.

THÉÂTRE DE L’AQUARIUM

Theater

At the beginning of the adventure there is a university theatre troupe organised in the Superior Ecole Normale since 1964 as Theatre 45. Some of them, Jacques Nichet, Jean-Louis Benoît and Didier Bezace, took the Theatre of the Aquarium and settled at La Factory in 1973. The ambition of these artists is to discover texts and new theatrical forms. In 1986, Jacques Nichet took the direction of the dramatic centre of Montpellier and, in 1998, that of the current national theatre of Toulouse. In 1997 Didier Bezace was named Head of the Commune Theatre of Aubervilliers. Jean-Louis Benoît was called to lead the theatre at La Auction in Marseille in 2002. Julie Brochen continued the history of the Aquarium theatre, which has about five hundred places, and then François Rancillac took his succession in 2009, the latter invited Antoine Caubet to be the artist associated with this place for three years.
