FATHER JOSEPH'S HOUSE
This building once belonged to the estate of Cardinal Richelieu, which is now one of the few remains. In the seventeenth century, Father Joseph of his real name François Leclerc du Tremblay was the diplomatic adviser of the cardinal. He stayed in this house during his stay in Rueil and died there in 1638, following an apoplexy attack. When he died, the Cardinal expressed his sentence as follows: " I lose my consolation and my only help. " After that, the house changed many times. During the First World War, the house became a temporary hospital. Then in 1931, she appeared to the Gould, a couple of Americans who made a commemorative plaque. Finally, in 1988, the municipality bought it back, restores it and installed a cultural center: The Ermitage. The building is surrounded by a pleasant park of 9,000 m 2, ideal for a walk in the beautiful days and open all year round.
